It isn't as quiet as I would have thought for being called "hush", but still I didn't really expect a vacuum to be all that quiet.We bought this in December and within 5 hours of using it, it stopped working. Power just went off. Later it did work again, but not as well. We contacted Webstaurant and after sending emails describing what happened, were finally told we needed to contact Hoover. Well, unfortunately that has been a joke. First I left a message to ask for a call back....didn't get one, she said they are having problems with that.....then, I needed to do troubleshooting with her on the phone, so I had to go into town and retrieve the vacuum. She told me if that doesn't work I have to take it to a service center for repairs, but the closest one to us in an hour away!

So, I called back with the vacuum on site and again long hold times, so finally I entered my phone number in to have another call back....that was last week!! Called Webstaurant back last night and they refuse to help in any way and my only hope is with Hoover.....not happy! Also, so others know, this vacuum cleaner does NOT have a cord on it!! You have to plug in an extension cord to it. Poor purchase on my part! Will follow up on review once I actually get to speak with Hoover. Super sad with Webstaurants customer service on this one.
