In this continuous improvement process program, we ask our employees yearly for their best ideas which can improve safety, quality and cost efficiency. In 2015, more than 1200 ideas were submitted, with the potential to save more than 1 million Euros. Within my role, I get to know many different and interesting people, from workers to assembly managers to managing directors. On a regular basis, we organize meetings with the managers and employees to show appreciation for their ideas. I joined the company in 1983 as an Electrical Engineering apprentice. About 20 years later, the company moved from Graz to Lannach, our current location, where I was responsible for the startup and organization of the machines and working processes.

More and more, I became interested in their maintenance, as well as in the workflows and processes of our company.

Whenever we are not hiking or cheering for our son when he’s playing soccer, I like working in our garden or in our house, where we are implementing our own ideas. In our company, I often participate in sporting events, such as the business marathon, skiing events or badminton tournaments.

I also enjoy spending time with my colleagues at joint getaways. It’s said that a tool is only as good as its user. I think this holds true for our suggestion program as well. The employees who come up with and submit their suggestions, and the various departments in which the suggestions are approved and implemented, play the main role in the success of this program. I have to say, I greatly appreciate this collaboration with my colleagues. They are very motivated to collectively improve the company. I am a Sales Manager for Magna Powertrain – India, responsible for generating business with customers located in the west and south regions of India. I am based at Magna Powertrain’s Engineering Center in Pune, India. In my role, I work with customers at various stages – from targeting future opportunities, receiving RFQs, going through internal approvals, and coordinating quotations until final business nomination. I work closely between customers and our divisions to pass on the expectations and requirements to each other.

I also handle various commercial issues with customers. In addition, I help coordinate Indian marketing activities, including the “SIAT Expo” in Pune and Powertrain Components Day, with great support from our European marketing team. I am a fun loving and jolly person. I love sports like cricket, volleyball, swimming, badminton, horse riding and rifle shooting. I represented my school and college in various sporting events, and currently am part of the champion team in Magna India’s cricket tournament. I love nature, and enjoy travelling and hiking with my family and friends to discover new places and learn about different cultures, customs and beliefs. Recently, I travelled to Rajasthan & Nainital with my family. I have also been to Canada, Germany, Austria and Thailand. I believe in giving back to the society, and I take part in various social activities, both personally and through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) group of Magna India. I am one of the founding members of the CSR group at the Engineering Center in Pune, and have participated in activities like blood donations and relief efforts for draughts and the Nepal earthquake.

I have an orange farm in my hometown, and we adopt many natural farming techniques to avoid the use of chemicals and pesticides. Magna Powertrain is a great company to work for. Our engineering expertise is one of our major backbones, which aids our overall success and shows our customers great value in working with us. We have engineering facilities, and two manufacturing facilities in India which produce oil, water and vacuum pumps from our Fluid Pressure & Controls portfolio. I enjoy working with my global colleagues and interacting with customers, as to me they are the fountain of new experiences and ways of thinking. Magna Powertrain is like a 2nd family to me. It has helped me to grow professionally with continuous motivation, support and guidance from my superiors. In my Industrial Engineering – Manufacturing Planning role, I am currently working as sub-project leader for a manufacturing localization in Mexico. In this position, I am responsible for the projection of machine procurement, as well as the coordination of all production-related issues concerning the transfer of production lines from Bad Homburg to Mexico.

These include the calculation of manufacturing costs, layout and material flow planning, time and resource planning and project status presentations. Along with this project, I am also in charge of capacity planning and cost calculation for various project launches. Whenever I am not occupied with my part-time master studies or on a business trip I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends. I like to go skiing or motorcycling, and relax when I am cooking or at BBQs. I also volunteer as Vice President of Junior Chamber International Darmstadt. I am very interested in foreign cultures, languages and countries, and I greatly enjoy travelling, whether for business or holidays. I am also a fan of the “Eintracht Frankfurt” soccer club and am interested in current automotive and economy topics. In my opinion, Magna Powertrain, as a global company, offers a lot of very interesting opportunities to collaborate with international project teams. My work is engaging and varies every day, and there are many possibilities to focus on your own work interests and develop your career.

In my daily work in Industrial Engineering, I appreciate taking responsibility, having a broad spectrum of tasks and the working atmosphere with my colleagues. At the moment, I am leading the calculation and design department at the Engineering Center Traiskirchen. Here we work on, calculate and design concepts of electrical machines and mechanical components for the power electronic sector. Moreover, we build and test prototypes. Our team is a potpourri of highly qualified technicians from different disciplines and with different backgrounds, which is also a special challenge as we are based at three different locations including Albersdorf and Traiskirchen in Austria, and Auburn Hills in the USA. I am responsible for the technical orientation of the team, the development of knowhow, the coordination of various projects, resources planning and the administration of budgets. Our Traiskirchen location (formerly Oberwaltersdorf) is very special and something we can really be proud of.

I have been working here almost since the very beginning in June 2009. As a team, we have managed different integrations through Magna Electronics and Magna E-Car. We have also experienced 5 years of highly intensive collaboration in the Volvo V60 Hybrid project. The location is focused almost exclusively on electrical mobility – an exciting, future-oriented topic. We are growing constantly and face new challenges. Both the people and the team spirit mean a lot to me, which is why I really enjoy working at Magna Powertrain. During my spare time, I like travelling with my family to see mountains, seas and parks, etc. I love seeing new places, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and eating local foods. Travelling makes me feel refreshed and gives me new energy for the next challenge. Music is another passion of mine, and I enjoy listening to it when I am driving or whenever I am free. As a divisional Launch Manager, I am responsible to oversee the launch of new products and processes in our division, as well as serial production to ensure that change management, efficiency, quality and continuous improvement targets are met.

My dual role of Program Manager adds on the responsibilities of overall program cost and quality timing, as well as communication and alignment of customers and suppliers. I like to spend my spare time outdoors, especially in the mountains with my friends. In the summer time it’s with my mountain bike and hiking shoes, in the winter with my touring skis. Outdoor experiences give me a good balance to my daily life tasks and bring me a lot of unforgettable moments. I also like to travel and explore countries by motorcycle. Another great passion of mine is the preservation of historical goods on the roads, rails and water. To experience how a wreck “matures” to a re-functioning museum piece enriches my life immensely! In Ilz, Magna Powertrain assembles an extensive range of AWD/4WD products for longitudinal and transversal engines. Our overall portfolio of transfer cases and couplings contribute to a broad spectrum of AWD applications, which are focused on optimizing fuel consumption, weight, NVH characteristics and vehicle integration.
