However, it fills with dog hair very quickly and needs to be dumped often. I wish it had more capacity between dumps. I have had it 3 years now. It picks up up the fine particles that are deep in the carpet pile. It doesn't have a retractable cord or a pet hair attachment as stated in the Wal-Mart description (Panasonic also errs on their website) but for basic carpet care you won't find anything that cleans as well as this vacuum. the old one died because we destroyed it during construction on our home...vacuuming up nails, dirt, stones and wood chips daily...it held up thru it all and finally died after construction was completed. This is the coolest vacuum. I love how it sucks up dirt with ease. It is also very light, which is a good thing. It was easy to set up. Amazing how much cat hair and dust it picked up!
