Air is spun at jet speeds within the cup to separate the dirt and reduce the amount of debris that goes into the filter to limit maintenance. 5 star52%4 star24%3 star7%2 star6%1 star11%See all 266 customer reviewsTop Customer ReviewsNo Rush to Judgment, I Took My Time With This MachineWhat's this?Great Vacuum/Love the Color! The Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone Upright Vacuum MC-UL915 had good performance on embedded dirt and very good performance on bare-floor and pet-hair-pick-up tests. Good Housekeeping Research Institute testers found it somewhat hard to maneuver, especially around tables and into corners. It was also slightly hard to push and pull. But for large expanses of wall-to-wall, it should suit you just fine. The machine did not tip backward with the hose extended during use. .Type: Upright vacuumManufacturer's warranty: Limited one year on labor and parts. Performed well on our carpeting embedded-dirt test Good performer on bare floors Performed well on pet-hair pick-up test

Did not tip backward Consumer testers found it difficult to maneuver You get a generous 14-inch cleaning path with this vacuum. The hose sometimes pops out of two holders on the back that are meant to keep it in place while you are vacuuming floors. The Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone is a good-sized bagless vacuum with strong suction and a useful "dirt sensor" light. The Panasonic JetSpin Cyclone is a big machine that cleans floors well with its wide 14-inch cleaning path and good suction. It offers an expandable hose that extends 14 feet so you can use its smaller tools to reach high or awkward places. Panasonic Jetspin Cyclone Vacuum Product: Panasonic MC-UL915 Jetspin Cyclone We first became acquainted with the Panasonic Jetspin Cyclone upright vacuum awhile back during our whirlwind tour of show floor of the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. Our contact at Panasonic promised to send us a review unit of their newest upright, especially upon hearing we played slave to couple of felines in our home and had a slightly unhealthy obsession with vacuum technology.

We've had the Jetspin Cyclone a few weeks now and report below what we think of the bagless model designed for a wide array of households and tasks. First impressions: It's been a long while since we owned an upright vacuum (except for the few that come in and out of our door for testing), since hardwood flooring and small space living is normally best served by a canister vacuum.

As the name implies, the Jetspin Cyclone utilizes a bagless system, with six cyclonic chambers that do an able job of separating dirt from air into the large capacity cup. We just moved into a new apartment which has offered us multiple, if not an abundance, of opportunities to put the vacuum to the test. The combination of the multiple chambers and the HEPA exhaust filter in combination kept filth in while expelling non-offensive, filtered air out. As someone who lives with an allergy sufferer, we still stand by the opinion a HEPA bag system is the way to go, since you still need to step outside to empty the dust cup without polluting the air. The Jetspin seems very good during operation at keeping everything you want off the floor inside the unit, so in the short term, the cyclonic system was a non-issue for allergies. Construction and Features: Build quality is excellent. The upright market is filled with plastic construction vacuums galore, and the Panasonic model is no different on paper, except the plastic used here is anything but budget.

The vacuum feels substantial, hefty and built-to-last, but may not be the best choice for this reason for those looking for a light, easy-to-carry model (it rolls around well though). But what one trades in the weight department, one gets back tenfold while cleaning on a daily basis (yes, daily; moving into a new space requires constant clean up), with features like a hardwood floor setting that plays nice with flooring finish, a dual push button release system which offers both a short range gas-pump like hose tool (with an assortment of attachments) or a longer telescopic wand which makes ceiling and under-furnishing cleaning a lot easier. A pet turbine brush was designed to remove pet hair and debris without damaging upholstery, while a two-in-one tool with removable bristles to use for dusting and crevice tool for hard-to-reach corners allows you to reach into every nook and cranny in the home, making the Jetspin perfect for those time you're hunting pet hair and tracked litter around the house.

There's no way about getting around the operational volume; the unit is loud like a small jet plane engine. But you probably won't notice all too much because you'll be mesmerized/obsessed with the Dirt Sensor built into the Jetspin Cyclone. The Dirt Sensor offers real time feedback while you clean, utilizing an infrared beam to monitor dirt particles being sucked into the vacuum from the carpet or floor, making cleaning a game of Red Light,Green Light (green obviously telling you you're done and ready to move onto a new spot). This in itself makes vacuuming less of a chore and supremely satisfying, if not instigating a bit of obsessive behavior as you try to make your whole rug a green zone. Final Thoughts: We've got mixed feelings about the Jetspin Cyclone, but only because the vacuum performance is optimized for a different household than our own. It's no beauty in the industrial design department, with a Camry-meets-Dyson Lite impression to it. And like we've mentioned above, the vacuum is no lightweight, thanks to its significant construction.

For these reasons, the Jetspin is not an ideal small space vacuum or for multi-floor operation. It's also not the sort of appliance which illicit "oohs" and "ahhs" like a Miele or even a Dyson when left out; in this regard, the Jetspin is all substance and just so-so in the looks department. That all said, the Jetspin Cyclone is a grade-A performer and one whose features seem to be ready for almost any cleaning call of duty thrown at it, without any noticeable compromise in durability. We can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who has a home with both hardwood and carpet/rugs, lives with pets, but who has a nice closet to hide it away while not in use. Pros: top notch construction, encyclopedic array of cleaning tools, cyclonic action creates strong vacuuming force, option for both carpet and hardwood flooring offers flexibility, modest price Cons: Heavy, emptying cup is still an outside only affair for allergy sufferers, industrial design is ho-hum. Strong Recommend* (Recommend for small space dwellers)
