At times, it would lock-up and would not charge without hooking it up to our lap top to get it to wake up. The batteries are the life of these machines and once the batteries get where they will not hold a charge the Neato will not perform. Don't buy cheap aftermarket batteries, stay with the factory ones for the best battery life. New batteries will make your Neato perform like when it was new. Worth the money although like most consumers I wish these were in the $30 price range. But, rather than buy the genuine Neato batteries I went out on Ebay and purchased a set of, supposedly, more powerful mAh wise and much cheaper batteries from 'overseas'. They arrived in a timely fashion and looked fine except that they were blue and not green...no problem!! They also claimed to be lithium ion as opposed to NiMh. But from the start they were problematic; I went through the whole initial charging drill and everything, but they seemed to get progressively worse in the amount of time that they would run the machine. I bought the 'overseas' batteries in June and by late August/early September they would not charge anymore. I went through Ebay and communicated with the folks 'overseas'; they were VERY apologetic and said that they would do right by me over and over again. But in the end their best deal was $10.00 for another set of the same batteries and they would only deal with me, not my wife.

I was furious with them!! I went back out on line and found that Walmart had the genuine Neato batteries at a fair price and ordered a set, they showed up at our local Walmart in a timely manner and were exactly what I ordered and needed. I, again, did the initial charging drill and these batteries are running just fine. They run continuously for a few hours before needing a recharge and the Neato again picks up a 'ton' of our shedding dog's hair/fur.
