It really grosses me out and the only fix seems to be running each load twice which is so wasteful. I have had better results with Finish Powerball w/jet dry-Case of 150 Capsules than with these. I used Somat before and really liked it until the phosphates were removed. Although I am glad for environmental reasons that phosphates are gone, my dishes are not as clean now.

Update 7/11/12: I called Miele Customer Service about my dishwasher and they told me that the reason for the bad smell was soap residue rotting in the bottom of the dishwasher from using too much soap. I was told that because I have soft water I need to cut these Miele tabs in half and only use half a tab for each load. I can't recommend the Finish tabs anymore because now I know they were contributing to the smell and they can't be cut down in size due to how they are made. To get rid of the smell I was instructed to run my empty dishwasher on normal, wait for the sound of the spray arms moving, then open the door and add 1 cup of white vinegar to the water in the bottom of the machine, close the door and let it finish the cycle. They had me do that once per week for two weeks then once a month if the smell came back, but it has not returned. I gave one more star to my original rating as this product performs fine with half a tab, but I can't go higher if I have to cut pre-wrapped tablets in half, it's just too much trouble.

For years I struggled with the drawer dishwasher that was worse than having nothing. I paid so much money for that thing and we had to literally wash the dishes first. This product is so easy to use and it works. Good product, nice results. As an experiment, I tried to split the tab and was surprised that it also worked well. Makes for a better value. Cheapest Miele Dishwasher tabs on the internet, plus with the quick prime shipping it was a no brainer. Will purchase again when I run out. I have a Miele dishwasher and I'm having a different problem. People used to complain about these tabs over-sudsing but I'm finding that the new tabs aren't enough to handle full... The tabs are wrapped in a thin plastic. I wasn't sure if I had to take it off before using in the dishwasher, because all the writing is in German.
