I’m Clare, mother of three and self-proclaimed cleaner of the year. Being a single mom has it’s perks, and I guess cleaning isn’t one of them. Still though, cleaning needs to happen, and vacuum cleaners are without a doubt my most trustworthy tool. They make a high end vacuum cleaner which boosts of being the first vacuum cleaner that didn’t use a bag. It also uses a ‘cyclone effect’ to pick up dust and dirt off carpets. Read our Miele Reviews! The Miele company manufacturers high quality household appliances, including vacuum cleaners. They’ve been a family owned, family run company for over 100 years. They feature 8 models of upright vacuums which use bags and have HEPA or air filters. Why Buy a Vacuum Cleaner? If you have carpets or rugs on your floors, a vacuum cleaner is an essential appliance to have in your home. Carpets and rugs get dirty just from sitting on your floor from the accumulation of dust that gets into the house, not to mention the dirt and debris you may drag into your house on the bottoms of your shoes.

If you have pets and/or children, your carpets can become even dirtier – EGH! While you can hand sweep your floor with a broom or get a manual carpet sweeper, they won’t get your carpet as clean as a good vacuum cleaner will.

September 2013, Volume 29, Issue 3, pp 373–384Viable methanotrophic bacteria enriched from air and rain can oxidize methane at cloud-like conditionsOriginal PaperFirst Online: 20 January 2013Received: 07 September 2012Accepted: 07 January 2013DOI: 10.1007/s10453-013-9287-1Cite this article as: Šantl-Temkiv, T., Finster, K., Hansen, B.M. et al. Aerobiologia (2013) 29: 373. AbstractAtmospheric methane is degraded by both photooxidation and, in topsoils, by methanotrophic bacteria, but this may not totally account for the global sink of this greenhouse gas. Topsoils are a prominent source of airborne bacteria, which can degrade some organic atmospheric compounds at rates similar to photooxidation.

Although airborne methanotrophs would have direct access to atmospheric methane, their presence and activity in the atmosphere has not been investigated so far. We enriched airborne methanotrophs from air and rainwater and showed that they oxidized methane at atmospheric concentration. The majority of seven OTUs, detected using pmoA gene clone libraries, were affiliated to the type II methanotrophic genera Methylocystis and Methylosinus. Furthermore, 16S rRNA gene clone libraries revealed the presence of OTUs affiliated with the genera Hyphomicrobium and Variovorax, members of which can stimulate methane oxidation by yet unidentified mechanisms. Simulating cloud-like conditions revealed that although both low pH and the presence of common cloud-borne organics negatively affected methane oxidation, airborne methanotrophs were able to degrade atmospheric methane in most cases. We demonstrate here for the first time that viable methanotrophic bacteria are present in air and rain and thus expand our knowledge on the global distribution of methanotrophs to include the atmosphere.
