However, as a busy mom of 4, we needed this to work as described. Sure works great if you clean your floor before you clean them. But if what you actually wanted was for it to suck up the dirt and water while washing the floor, you will be very disappointed! Additionally, just 6 months after purchase, with light use (as the thing just doesn't work) the hose cracked open right at the joint between the top and bottom. Where it is designed to bend. Obviously the thing is poorly designed, poorly manufactured, piece of junk. This was my 3rd hoover purchase, and my last. It just isn't the same company it used to be. I was hoping this product would be able to get the dirt out of those pores with the scrub brush.

It cleans the service fine, but I slowly went over a small area many many times and could still see dirt. Picture below of area after washing. Machine is loud and the power button is fussy meaning you have to push it hard and hold it for awhile. I just need a stronger scrub. For hardwood floors I think this would work great since it drys at the same time. But I'll be returning mine. I would like to see a tool for under the cabinets added in the future as that is the hardest place to clean, but otherwise, it does a decent job of "scrubbing." You'll still have to get on your hands and knees for the tough jobs (the same ones manual hand mops and steam mops don't get easily either)...like the son's black scuff marks from the baseball bag wheels.

But it's fairly quick and easy to use and put away. I do not leave water in the containers when it's stored. I think that's just asking for trouble and leakage down the road. So after reading all the reviews on tile cleaners I bought this (after all it is a Hoover floormate, right?). First of all, Wallmart advertised at $124 and when I bought from store it was $138. The on off button is tempermental. This machine has a button to "pick up any extra water" according to manual. That's great because you are going to need it. Without the "dry button" most water is left on floor. Even when I have it on "dry" water still squirts out the side of brushes. The scrub brushes are not efficent . The machine leaves streaks. I kept having to go over the floor over and over again and the floors were not anymore dirty than when I used my 3000 series. Upon opening the box the instructions say "do not return to store". When I bought this Wallmart said I could return with the receipt, so I am going to try and return. I should have known this item was worthless, there are many on craigslist for sale, cheap. When powering the cleaner on, make sure the power button is pushed down firmly and clicks. In regards to the cleaner not picking up as well, you must take slow deliberate strokes.
