I ignored the instructions about vacuuming first and just went to town with this thing, sucking cat hair and dust balls right up into the reservoir. It did NOT suck up the dry cat food (you can tell which member of the family contributes much of the dirt) so it's not a replacement for a vacuum, but that was a good test. It did suck up most of the other small dirt and did a good job with the tumbleweed-like balls of fur that Hudson seems to shed on an hourly basis. Awesome product I would recommend it.My floors are shiny and clean. I straight up HATE using this things. I hate that it literally makes me sweat every time I use it, it requires that much manpower. Works great on hard surface floors. You just can imagine the dirt this thing gets out of hardwood. I knew it was dirty but wow! And we have maids twice a week. really good floor cleaner. I had tried everything to clean my hardwood floors but they always felt dirty after. This actually gets them feeling and looking clean I love it. This works really great on my tile floors. Amazing how much dirt it picks up! Very disappointed in this machine. The unit occasionally gushes water, sometimes loses suction when dirty water reservior is emplty brush unit constantly falls off.Had cleaned my floor with a swifter but since my new toy arrived recleaned the floors and the water was black!
