Purchased ours 12/2012 and purchased one for our daughter this year for Christmas. Keep mine in the kitchen and use frequently it is very handy and light. A snap to remove the hand vac for something of furniture and just great for quick pick-ups and amazingly does very good job on our family room carpet where the visiting granddogs like to be. Sometimes have to clean the tunnel area if something would get stuck. Easy to emply and we empty ours as needed to gain more efficiency. I needed a cordless vacuum for the bathroom that houses the cat's litter box. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a Kenmore product that offers the conveniences of cordless vac that could be used as both an upright and a hand held model.
The concept is great but with this model it just doesn't work. When used as an upright, the amount of suction is so minimal as to be a joke. You'll have to go over a tiny area on the rug with a little bit of granular dirt like cat liter 4-5x before all the litter is picked up. The hand held component is excellent and has a lot of suction, but who wants to vacuum even an area as small as a bathroom floor on their knees? BTW, less that a week after getting this cordless stick one of the wheels fell off. Kudos to Sears for quickly replacing the broken model. Too bad the replacement didn't have have anymore functional suction in the upright position. GREAT Suction ,well designed & easy to use !!! We bought this to replace an Electrolux cordless vac of similar design that finally bit the dust.This Kenmore IMPROVED on the Electrolux's design.The Kenmore's folding handle makes it easy to store in tight places(A++++) & the quick release hand vac is MUCH easier to release than the Electrolux we had.
The dustbin is also a MUCH improved design over he Electrolux, MUCH easier to clean AND NOT get dirt all over, unlike the Electrolux.The suction is GREAT for a quick clean up vac, WHICH IS WHAT IS DESIGNED FOR..NOT whole house cleaning that some previous reviwers were comparing/ using this machine for.It cleans up our sloppy old cat's messes, food, kitty litter etc. with ease.We use it as a touch up vac on our tri level house and even w/ my back back, it is very easy to carry & use...and has kept a full charge w/ o running out of juice.What can I say...Another great Kenmore product..never has disappointed yet : )A+++++ I WAS LOOKING FOR AN AFFORDABLE 2ND VAC TO HAVE AT THE CAMP. Great vacuum suction, terrible construction! I bought this vacuum and loved it for its vacuuming power. However, after about a month of use, the vacuum head snapped off while vacuuming! I returned it to sears and they replaced it with no hassle. The replacement vacuum arrived in the mail a few days later. To my astonishment, the brand new vacuum already had a crack in the vacuum head. I will be taking it back to Sears this week to exchange for another brand of vacuum. The construction is just to poor on this one. Not bad for the sale price I paid. It was just enough for what I it needed for. Quick hassle free touch-ups. Great suction, Poor Construction We have tried about half a dozen different uprights for our kitchen. We've tried Eureka, Electrolux, Black & Decker, you name it... all of them poor.
With this Kenmore 2 in 1, we finally found a small vacuum that picked up the Cheerios and kids' food off the hardwood floor. Unfortunately, we've had to exchange this unit 4 times in 2 weeks. 2 models did not charge, and 2 of them had the vacuum head just crack off and break within a day (for one, almost immediately) of using the vacuum. I so badly wanted this vacuum to work, but the construction quality is the worst, for any device, I have ever used in my ENTIRE LIFE. Never have I had to exchange a brand-new product so many times. Kenmore 2-in-1 Cordless Stick & Handheld Vacuum This Vacuum is worth the price for light duty cleanups and daily sweeping. Perfect for small jobs Bought 2 of these, one for home and one for office. Is great for small jobs and I like the hand held center vacuum for even smaller jobs. Is a bit heavy for a cordless, and really its only a glorified dust buster, but overall, a good item to have since it always is recharging itself My small handheld vac stopped working.
I like Kenmore products so I went to Sears looking for a vac to replace the old one. For me this vac is perfect. It has 2 different uses, stix vac and handheld. Because it is a Kenmore I expect to have it for a long time. Its great for a quick clean up in any room in my house. Its light and easy to use. Bought this for a christmas present 1 year ago. Started off working great for dust bunnies. Struggled to even pick up cat litter. Now it wont even pick up dust bunnies. Expected alot more from a Kenmore product. Don't waste your money on this Vacuum. Exactly what I was looking for! The Kenmore 2-in-1 Cordless Stick and Handheld Vacuum is exactly what I was looking for! It is extremely light weight and yet it has great suction. The convenience of the handheld vac is just priceless for everyday clean up. Also, I am a BLUE fanatic so I was super excited to find this! Don't purchase unless your bald... I did not actually try using this to vacuum...when I opened the box and read the directions for cleaning unit after using, it seemed like too much effort.
The dirt cup alone was not horrible... take the hand vac out of the handle, take apart the hand vac, then take off end of dirt cup and empty, then take apart filter and clean off...put back together and turn whole unit over and check for hair or string on the roller brush (very small roller!) use coin to turn lock, remove bottom plate, lift lever, remove roller brush, remove bristles and clean off any hair. Then put back together and put on the charging base (folding handle if needed for space). I have owned other stick vacs and I knew this would be too much of a hassle because my daughter has long hair and I would constantly need to take everything apart to clean after use...I guess you could look at it as a plus that it comes apart to clean, but just too much effort for me. Handy Little Stick Vac I purchased this item after my swivel sweeper died and have used it several times and really like it. It is larger than a swivel sweeper but the suction and brush action is also much better too.
The only negative I would say is that it is a little 'stiffer' and not as manueverable as a swivel sweeper. It also doesn't replace a regular vacuum cleaner but is great to use in between regular vacuuming. This item is so poorly designed (or manufactured) that the handheld unit never makes enough contact with the base to actually charge the battery. What happened to quality at Sears ??? :(( Save yourself the time of having to return this item, and buy something different. this is a nice vacuum...great weight for someone with arthritis and a bad back. it has good suction and works great on bare floors, and does a decent job on low pilr carpet. i don't try to use it on regular carpet..i hace a large vacuum for that purpose. it doesn't hold a charge as long as i would like, but otherwise works great. I've been very happy with this cordless vacuum, very powerful and runs for about 20 minutes without a charge. I don't use it for carpets, I wanted it for hardwood floors only
