Replacing the belt on your vacuum engages the roller brush, making your vacuum more effective when cleaning your carpet. Turn off the Eureka vacuum model 4700 and unplug it from the wall. Allow the vacuum to cool to avoid burning your fingers should you accidentally touch the motor shaft. Press down on the handle release above the left wheel, using your foot. Lower the handle to the floor. Look for the two screws along the top front of the vacuum hood above the roller brush. Remove the hood screws from the left and right side of the vacuum hood, using a Phillips screwdriver. Face the front of the Eureka vacuum so that the belt is positioned to your right. Grab the left side of the roller brush and lift it from the base. Pull the right side of the roller brush from the base to access the belt. Remove the old belt from the end of the roller brush and the motor shaft at the back of the base. Discard the old Eureka vacuum model 4700 belt. Clean any debris from inside the base of the vacuum.

Place the replacement belt around the motor shaft at the back of the base and the right side of the roller brush. Insert the right end of the roller brush into the Eureka vacuum base. Line up the left end of the roller brush with the vacuum base and push it into place. Manually rotate the roller brush so the belt lines up on the end of the motor shaft and the end of the roller brush. Replace the hood on the Eureka vacuum and secure it with the screws you previously removed from the hood.
